The weekend power pack program helps children in need get necessary food for the weekends. Good nutrition helps children return to school on Mondays ready to learn. Dassa McKinney Elementary students may opt to receive free weekend power packs. The school district distributes these food bags on Fridays.
In addition to food for the weekend, some students in our district have difficulty with other basic needs such as clothing, shoes, school supplies, adequate housing, etc. Some of our students who are experiencing homelessness, face hidden challenges throughout the year with taking advantage of educational opportunities such as clothing for dances, temporary lodging, field trip fees, testing fees, medical services, dental services, vision services, etc.
Please consider helping our students in need by donating to the weekend power pack program! Donations will be utilized to fund these weekly bags of food and other items needed by students experiencing homelessness.
